NES news as Nintendo will now re-release Classic next year

The sold-out NES Classic will return in 2018 whilst the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Edition will also be available despite original plans to cease production at the end of this year.

The mini-system was due to stop shipping in 2017 but Nintendo now look set to stock the popular retro console for longer than originally expected. However, stock made available to pre-order on Amazon across much of Europe sold out in minutes when it was added earlier this month.

The console will contain 21 classic 16-Bit games, including Super Mario RPG, Earthbound and Final Fantasy III (aka Final Fantasy VI) which were not originally released in the UK for the SNES, although have been available on other Nintendo consoles such as the Game Boy Advance, and via the eShop for Nintendo Wii, Wii U and Switch consoles.

Nintendo have so far not revealed any figures for the number of consoles which will be made available.
