Netflix renew hit comedy Atypical for extended second season

Netflix have renewed their Original US comedy drama series Atypical for a second season, upping the number of episodes from eight to ten in the process.

The bittersweet comedy series, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Netflix, was created by Robia Rashid (The Goldbergs, How I Met Your Mother, Will & Grace) and stars English-born Canadian actor Keir Gilchrist (It Follows, Dark Summer) as an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum as he searches for love and independence.

The first season, with eight episodes, premiered in August this year on Netflix. Academy Award winning producer Seth Gordon (Baywatch, The Goldbergs, Horrible Bosses, The King of Kong) directed two episodes in the first season. The show co-stars Jennifer Jason Leigh and Elsa Michael Rapaport.
