Once Upon a Time there was… ah well, we did the story so far for this long-running show just recently, returning for its seventh season, but with so many fantastic figures coming and going on this magical show, do you even know who’s who anymore?
Before the season premieres in the UK, let’s have a glance at the key characters you should keep your eye on in Season 7…
Henry Mills (Andrew J. West)
The son of the Saviour, Emma Swan, and Neal “Baelfire” Cassidy who is the eldest son of Rumpelstiltskin, Henry is also the Author whose job it is to document the lives of beings from magical realms such as the Enchanted Forest.
Henry was given up as a baby and raised by Regina Mills for ten years in Storybrooke while the town was under the Dark Curse, which she had cast to stop Henry’s grandparents Snow White and Prince Charming from getting their happy ending. Despite her actions, Henry soon realised that Regina did love him and that she could potentially be saved from the darkness that had led to her becoming the Evil Queen.
At the end of Season Six, it is revealed that sometime between the Final Battle against the Black Fairy and the beginning of Season Seven, he had a daughter named Lucy…
Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla)
Snow White’s stepmother, the Evil Queen, who enacted her revenge against Snow, who she blames for the death of teenage sweetheart Daniel, by casting a Dark Curse on all in the Enchanted Forest, trapping them in our world with no idea of their true identity.
Her adopted son Henry enlisted his biological mother Emma Swan to break the curse and eventually Regina redeemed herself, becoming an accepted part of the Charming family. In Season Seven, it’s believed she arrives in Seattle to aid Henry but falls victim to a new curse cast by Lady Termaine.
Killian Jones aka Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue)
Henry’s stepfather through his marriage to Emma Swan. He too has battled with the dark side on a number of occasions but his love for Emma has made him a better man. Hook has had his fair share of brushes with death and on the last occasion, Emma and her family travelled to the Underworld just to save him so he’ll be hoping he remain unscathed in future adventures.
The king of holding a grudge, Hook has never truly forgiven Rumpelstiltskin, who he refers to as the Crocodile, for killing his first love Milah.
Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle)
The major recurring villain who’s struggled with his hungry for power since the very beginning. Rumple became the Dark One during the Ogre Wars in order to save his son Baelfire and quash the public opinion that he was a coward. He’s more than been around the block, mentoring Regina and her Wicked Witch of the West half sister Zelena, as well as romancing their mother Cora.
He was instrumental in helping Regina enact the First Dark Curse as well as helping to break it by advising the Charming’s. He murdered his father Pan to stop him from killing Baelfire and enacting the second curse, but it was his life that they were attempting to save that was responsible for the Third Curse cast by Hook and Forth. Ultimately the Dark Curse was enacted by his mother the Dark Fairy! In the new season, he rides to Henry’s side along with Hook and Regina to help stop Lady Termaine.
Cinderella (Dania Ramirez)
The second iteration of the character and not much is currently known about her. It is believed the new version of the character will marry Henry and give birth to Lucy who will to come to fill the young Henry shaped void in order to reunite her family.
Her stepmother Lady Termaine will reputedly enact the new Dark Curse that traps our heroes with new identities in Hyperion Heights in Seattle.
